Rollcon supplied the cement-treated base to build 54 miles of four-lane roads extending from northwest side of Houston and connecting it to Highway 59 and the Houston Ship Channel. For such an important project for the city and region, Rollcon was chosen to execute the CTB placement due to our expertise in zero-slump placements. The roadways we executed demonstrated one-percent yield and elevation tolerances within an eighth of an inch for an extremely smooth rideability.

These roads constitute the very first roadways in Louisiana constructed out of roller compacted concrete. The new roads were placed in one day to demonstrate RCC’s superior durability over time, even when exposed to heavy traffic in the unforgiving Louisiana heat.

Various in-situ pavement testing and instrumentation were employed to monitor load-induced pavement responses and pavement surface cracking under the ATLaS loading. The study concluded with a recommendation that the state’s Pavement Design Section implement thin RCC-surfaced pavement structure for DOTD’s low-volume roadways where heavy (and overloaded) trucks are often encountered.

Colony Ridge Development https://rollconllc.com/project/colony-ridge-development/ https://rollconllc.com/project/colony-ridge-development/#respond Wed, 11 Nov 2020 21:48:48 +0000 http://rollcon.studiobranddev.com/?post_type=project&p=1409 Colony Ridge is a large residential development in East Texas that includes multiple subdivisions. Thanks to years of work put in by the experienced team at Rollcon, Colony Ridge is now the largest RCC-street subdivision in the nation. Rollcon placed 86 miles of 24-feet-wide, 5” roller compacted concrete roads. The highly durable pavement was chosen by the developer instead of asphalt thanks to the long-term maintenance cost savings it provided for the county.

Bella Vista https://rollconllc.com/project/bella-vista/ https://rollconllc.com/project/bella-vista/#respond Mon, 02 Nov 2020 16:20:32 +0000 http://rollcon.studiobranddev.com/?post_type=project&p=689 Rollcon provided paving and soil stabilization for more than 10.5 miles of Bella Vista’s neighborhood streets. The Rollcon roller compacted concrete (RCC) paving solution for Bella Vista provided five-inch thick pavement for the project’s more than 1.1 million square feet of roadways. The durability of RCC means Bella Vista’s 22-foot-wide streets can last up to 20 years without failures—more than twice as long as asphalt. RCC provides many other benefits, including minimal labor costs, high strength, low maintenance costs, and next-day traffic. Rollcon, working jointly with the Cement Council of Texas and CEMEX, helped to develop the standards approved for RCC paving in Liberty County.

The project consisted of approximately 50 acres of 6-inch RCC that was used in place of the originally specified 12 inches of crushed-limestone base and 10 acres of 60-inch RCC that serves as parking. RCC was selected based on our speed of construction and the significant price savings over the originally specified crushed-limestone base and asphalt/concrete paving.

City of Temple https://rollconllc.com/project/city-of-temple/ https://rollconllc.com/project/city-of-temple/#respond Mon, 02 Nov 2020 16:16:21 +0000 http://rollcon.studiobranddev.com/?post_type=project&p=685 The City of Temple, Texas needed to rebuild streets in an industrial portion of the town that required a heavy-duty roadway for regular, heavy traffic. The city chose chose roller compacted concrete because it lasts more than twice as long as asphalt, and Rollcon was selected to place it. Due to the speed of RCC’s curing process, the rebuilt streets could be opened to traffic one day after the project’s execution.

ADESA https://rollconllc.com/project/adesa/ https://rollconllc.com/project/adesa/#respond Mon, 02 Nov 2020 16:15:12 +0000 http://rollcon.studiobranddev.com/?post_type=project&p=683 Rollcon was awarded an RCC pavement rehabilitation project with ADESA in 2016. The project is located at the ADESA—Hutchins location just outside of Dallas, which at over 170 acres is one of the largest facilities in the nation. Rollcon is set to remove a failing asphalt pavement and replace it with 6.5 inches of roller compacted concrete. As a paving contractor, Rollcon will provide over 1.1 million square feet of 5,000-psi RCC pavement atop a six-inch lime/cement stabilized subgrade. The project is projected to take three months and will be divided into four separate phases. This is the first project in which ADESA has utilized RCC. ADESA selected Rollcon and RCC due its lifecycle cost and durability.

Phillips 66 https://rollconllc.com/project/phillips-66/ https://rollconllc.com/project/phillips-66/#respond Wed, 28 Oct 2020 22:12:43 +0000 http://rollcon.studiobranddev.com/?post_type=project&p=438 Rollcon delivered a turnkey pavement solution for Phillips 66. Rollcon excavated the subgrade, installed the roller compacted concrete (RCC), and then installed limestone shoulders. Rollcon designed, mixed, and installed 400,000 square feet of RCC, which included 200,000 square feet of subgrade preparation work along with 25,000 linear feet of limestone-base shoulder work. During this process, Rollcon did not interrupt any of the facility’s operations, while providing cost savings in comparison to asphalt and concrete.
